Whining While Working Out

I know I haven't blogged in a while...I do think about it a lot but I haven't had anything exciting to say! I'm still just babysitting and working out. But working out is the key part...I have had some REALLY hard workouts.

Sunday (mother's day) I went out intending to run for 70 minutes and by about 45 I thought I was going to die. I mean not really die but I thought about asking someone if I could borrow their phone so I could get a ride home. It. was. awful.

I mean I guess this is true...but I was pathetic.
Then Monday I reluctantly put on my running shoes but then I looked outside and it was raining and I just decided to do laundry instead.

Tuesday I had an okay 40 minutes on the elliptical while watching Sex and the City (thanks for lending it to me Sara!). I also visited my aunt, uncle and 2 cousins so it was a nice day.

Me with the newest addition to the family.
Then today I decided I would do a hill workout. I ran about a mile to a field that I knew had a decent hill. When I got there I realized there was quite a bit of horse poop, but I proceeded anyways. I had already decided that I was going to do 8 hill repeats so I got to it. The first one was rough, so were the second, third, you get the gist. It was a rough workout.

How I felt looking up the hill today.
Yeah, so 4 lame workout days in a row. Has that ever happened to you? I hate to make up excuses but I think getting used to the heat may take a while...but who knows? Maybe I'm just being a wimp.

So, on tomorrow's agenda is a strength workout complete with push ups, planks and squats. Hopefully it will be better than the previous ones.

Have you ever been in a workout slump?

What's your favorite type of exercise?

  1. I swam a thousand yards the other day (usually go around 3-5k total) and my calves cramped up with the fury of a thousand suns. I quit immediately and went home to drink my out of shape sorrows away.

  2. WORK OUT SLUMP. yes and yes and more yes. All of my workouts recently have been sub par. The worst part is trying to get myself out of the house. Blegh. I think it is significantly harder because it is not a daily routine yet and there is no team to push me. And I'd rather sit on the couch while waiting for brownies to bake...miss you!!!
