What you didn't know about nursing school

Image
So usually I do a Sunday post but I just didn't have time this weekend! I had an anatomy test at 9 on Monday morning so I basically spent all weekend studying (there was a little time spent watching the super bowl and relaxing with friends.) But since I have been spending so much time doing school work this semester I decided I would give you a glimpse into what it's like! First and foremost the nursing school is really disorganized so we have a Facebook group to keep us sane. Whether it's about anatomy, football tickets or getting a ride somewhere, if you have a question, you post it here for a guaranteed answer. There is also some shenanigans on the nursing Facebook page...a lot of posts like this: U Mich nursing students love cats...and memes And this: That's what happens when your major is almost all girls! Not only are we connected virtually but we have all of our classes together so we're together all the time!  We walk together Off to the ...

11 Things

So one of my favorite blogs Paleorunnergirl just did this post and I thought it would be fun! So here you go: 1. What is your favorite meal? You know…I really just love food. But these days I would have to say crab cakes and broccoli. 2. How many times have you been in love? Zero. 3. What is your Starbuck’s order? I used to work there so this is a very loaded question. Here are my top 5: -Tall soy no water chai light foam -Tall Americano in a Grande cup with extra room (I add 2% milk and equal myself) -Double tall soy latte light foam -Venti iced passion tea 6 shots sugar free vanilla, no classic light water light ice -Tall espresso frappacino, no frappucino roast skim milk no whip  You had no idea how loaded of a question that was! 4. Action/Comedy/Drama/ or Romantic Comedy? Romantic comedies all.the.way.  My favorite romcom. I like them all though! 5. What was your favorite TV show when you were a kid? When I was really little I liked Art...

Special Visitor!

This weekend wasn't just any old weekend...my friend Jackie came to visit! She goes to the University of Maryland and they haven't started school yet so she came to see me! I picked her up from the bus on Friday afternoon and we went to lunch at Zingermann's. It's a famous Ann Arbor deli that has been featured on several food network shows. Jackie got their famous reuban and I got a sandwich with turkey, cheese and avocado. Friday night we hung out in my room with my roommate Haley and some others stopped by too. Jackie ate her Reuban before I could snap a picture but it looked something like this!  Saturday we were tired because we stayed up late so we watched Friends with Benefits. We've both seen it but it's just so good! I love JT and Mila Kunis! After the movie we decided that we had to go on a run together because Jackie has been my running partner for 4.5 years (we met each other on the first day of XC freshman year and we have been running together...

Men's Wear Experiment

Image
I don't know about you but usually when I am changing my style, it's not intentional but rather I am drawn for lots of similar items. This winter it took me quite a while to catch on. I have had periods of wearing button ups all the time, dresses, ballet flats, black, purple, etc. This winter I seem to have an obsession with men's wear. I have always liked men's wear because I feel a little silly in dainty clothes so I do wear a lot of pants, blazers, my men's style watch and other things like that but I have been afraid of some other men's wear styles like sweaters, shirts, loafers and suits. I have always liked them on other people (like J.Lo) but I have been too scared to really try them myself. But when I left for college and I grabbed a pair of loafers that I stole from my mom my mom gave me. One random day this past fall I decided to wear them and I fell in love. My friend Jackie had always told me how much she loved her "grandma shoes" but I ju...

Here We Go Again!

After a nice relaxing break filled with visits to family and friends I made my way back to the mitten. I made a quick stop over night to stay with my roommate Haley who lives just outside of Detroit. I’ve never been there before so it was exciting to eat my first Coney dog, see Canada (across the lake) and drive through the city (if you’ve never been there before, it’s quite appalling! The city is practically empty!). After 2 days of fun we had to head back to Ann Arbor. So delicious! The semester started off on a good great note when Michigan won the Sugar Bowl against Virginia Tech! This is Brady Hoke’s first year as Michigan’s head coach so it’s a pretty big deal that we won a bowl game. The game was really close and Michigan won with a field goal in overtime. I wasn’t always this excited about football. In high school I would go to parties to eat food during watch the Ravens’ games but once I came here I knew I had better learn to understand the game. Now I love it...

Christmas Eve

Image
It is now less than an hour before Christmas and the children accross the world are nestled all snug in their beds...I'm included in that! Christmas is definately MUCH less exciting when you don't believe but it is fun to expericece it through the eyes of children. Julia and Olivia (Izzy was at school) all ready for Christmas! That brings me to what I have been doing so far over break. I babysat on Friday; the 3 little girls are as cute as can be and one even got me a present from her school christmas bazaar. It was nice to see how excited they were for Santa to come (it also meant that they were very well behaved because they didn't want to be on the naughty list!) I have also been visiting with my friends and family because unlike at Thanksgiving, now I have time to spend with everyone. I saw the lights down town with 3 of my friends, then my friend Jackie stayed for me for 2 days. This was also the first year that I got to go to my high school cross country team...

Freshman Lessons

Image
I have a Psych final tomorrow but I’m so sick of studying. So…I’m going to do a post. Since it’s the end of the semester I thought I’d do a couple posts about what I have learned so far my freshman year. This one will be what I have learned as a college student and the next one will be what I have learned as a midshipman. So, here we go. 1.       You might get homesick and you might not. I never ever thought that I would get homesick. I have been away from home tons of times and I think of myself as very independent. But man oh man, when you plopped me over 500 miles away not knowing anyone I was not a happy camper. But I found my way and now I love it here. This leads me into my second point: 2.       You will get used to things. Yes, campus is huge and it seems like everyone else has friends except for you but in 2 months you will be happy as a clam. You will begin to establish routines and friendships will naturally develop. Don’t fret it; ju...
